The Inglewood Forum concerts started out to be a two-night concert appearance for the Eagles, but due to sold-out shows the ticket demand increased it to FOUR nights. The Forum’s capacity is 18,000. Photos below are from three of those nights.* JD Souther opened for the Eagles, and these shows were part of the Hotel California tour, which was Randy Meisner’s last tour with the Eagles.
Eagles new 2-LP set:
“Live at the Forum ’76”, featuring ten of the songs recorded in October of 1976 at the Forum, has now been made available from Rhino on vinyl.
Their shows at the Forum were just prior to the release of Hotel California in December 1976. “Live at the Forum ’76” became available on Nov. 12, 2021 as a 2-LP set on 180-gram vinyl. The live music takes up three LP sides while the 4th side (Side B of LP 2) features an exclusive etching of the artwork. The album set includes some of the very first live performances of “Hotel California” and “New Kid in Town”. During the October shows the band also played hits from earlier albums.

*The photo groups below are not labeled with dates, because there is some question/discrepancy on a couple of the days. I corresponded with one of the photographers, and he was at the Forum two of the nights and wasn’t sure which night he photographed the Eagles. I’ve found that to be not that unusual. If a photographer did not label photos back when they were taken, it’s hard to remember dates decades later.

“In its first local appearance since guitarist Joe Walsh replaced Bernie Leadon, the Eagles kicked off a four-day Inglewood Forum stand Tuesday night that reinforced the band’s position as the leading exponent of the ‘L.A. Sound’.”
Concert review in LA Times (Los Angeles, CA) – Oct. 21, 1976
“Walsh rocked out on vocals, energetic guitar playing and several of his own hits, giving various adrenalin rushes. Other noticeable stage moments occurred when the quintet incorporated a full orchestra with strings into the arrangements.”
Concert review in Valley News (Van Nuys, CA) – Oct. 22, 1976
“The lead vocalists are Glenn Frey and Don Henley, but bassist Randy Meisner and Walsh are effective when given a turn. Meisner’s ‘Take It to the Limit’ is a highlight, as was Walsh’s rock classic ‘Rocky Mountain Way’.”
Palos Verdes Peninsula News (Palos Verdes, CA) – Oct. 21, 1976
Ken Palke’s review is directly below.
“Henley and Frey have drawn on their experiences with Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, John David Souther and Bob Seger to become outstanding songwriters. As instrumentalists, the two provide the foundation for bass player Randy Meisner, Walsh and Felder.”

“Show opener JD Souther joined the band on rhythm guitar for their third new number, ‘New Kid In Town,’ dedicated to rock’s hottest new phenoms, Daryl Hall and John Oates.”
Concert review in Cash Box – Oct. 30, 1976
“In Los Angeles recently, they sold out two performances at the Forum; an unprecedented third, then a fourth concert was added. A fifth was considered, but the Forum was already booked.”
