A yellow 1970 Porsche once owned by Randy Meisner was listed for sale on eBay in May 2011. It’s a 914/6 Targa. According to the eBay stats at the time it was listed, there had only been two previous owners. Randy is said to be the original owner in the description below, so that would mean he bought it new in 1970. From the description it sounds like the yellow 1970 Porsche has been almost completely restored. This eBay seller was in Australia, so Randy’s old car traveled a long way. I wonder if anyone on eBay ever bought it.
Apparently, this Porsche model was a joint effort between Porsche and Volkswagen and wasn’t that expensive to buy new.

Seller’s description from eBay of Randy Meisner’s Porsche:
“Vehicle stripped of everything and put on a rotisserie and taken back to bare metal. All mechanical parts either restored or replaced. Engine is original as fitted new. It has been fitted with new rings and seals, bores honed, bottom end untouched as car has travelled only 75,000mls, evidence of wear on peddle box, steering system and suspension parts suggest that this is genuine. Car was off the road for 28 years. Heads have had new valve guides and vales microseated. All new seals and gaskets. New polished stainless steel headers with heat exchangers and new sports muffler. New engine and gear box mounts. Reco alternator and new shockers. Reco brake calipers and master cylinder and new pads. The interior completely retrimmed in black leatherette and leatherette weave as per original delivery. Many new parts fitted during restoration, including nearly all rubbers. New tyres, battery and windscreen. Engine revs very willingly and has great grunt, and drives very nicely, it feels very tight. Car has been authenticated by Porsche cars as a genuine 914/6 delivered to San Francisco, USA, still LHD. Proof available of the above claim. Car has history, it was originally owned by Randy Meisner (founding member of “The Eagles”). Car purchased by Denis O’Keefe (Aporschapart Australia) from the ASEA Brothers USA. A third party independent professional mechanical and body inspection was done on the car and is available to prospective buyers on request. Car has done only a couple of test miles since restoration, it is not registered. Assistance will be given in transport to USA and Europe. This model is very rare and is becoming much more appreciated, especially in Europe. This is a unique opportunity to acquire an excellent example with history.”

That’s awesome! I love the little model car, too. I bet he had fun driving that in 1970!
I bet he buzzed around Studio City in that a lot. I would!
How awesome, bet he loved that car
He might have. A friend of his told me that Randy was partial to his silver Corvette and silver Mustang. Those two would be my favorites, too!
I love a Mustang! Glad he enjoyed his cars.
Thank you, Diana
