The Aragon Ballroom in Chicago was the location for the Eagles concert on Apr. 26, 1974. The Eagles shared the bill with the Marshall Tucker Band. The Eagles’ encore of “Peaceful Easy Feeling” along with songs from their “Desperado” album were some of the high points of the evening. The Marshall Tucker Band was with the Eagles the night before, too, at the University of Illinois.
The Aragon was an extremely popular venue for concerts. It first opened in 1926 and has a capacity of 5,000. There is an interesting article in the Chicago Sun-Times about the storied past of bootleggers and gangsters at the Aragon. It was designated a historic landmark in 2016 by the Chicago City Council, but in early 2021 at least a foot of snow on the roof caused quite a bit of damage to the building.

“Another problem is that since all of their songs have a sameness to them, the sets tend to get soporific with all that mellowness.”
This writer is the same who made the statement regarding Randy’s first solo album in a 1978 article review: “As solo debuts go, this one’s way above average.”
