Chicago Stadium Eagles concert – Nov. 11, 1976

The Chicago Stadium Eagles concert of November 11, 1976 was played to a nearly sold-out crowd. The Eagles were at University of Michigan for a show in the Crisler Arena the following evening on November 12, and they were at Iowa State University the day before the Chicago show on November 10. November 1976 was a very full schedule of concert shows for the Eagles.

JD Souther opened this Chicago Stadium show, and this was part of the Hotel California tour. Randy is wearing his Randy’s Rodeo shirt from the San Antonio nightclub. Since he wears it often, it must be a favorite.

Well…Randy did wear his Randy’s Rodeo shirt for this show.

Chicago Sun Times – Nov. 12, 1976

“The appearance of the Eagles was a two-part event. The first part of the Eagles concert was a tribute to the Byrds and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young–two of the most revered and loved of country-rockers of which the Eagles have borrowed from.
And the other half of the concert was a breakaway into ‘new horizons’ made possible by the addition of newest member Joe Walsh.”

“There were glorious moments throughout the nearly three-hour show. Like Meisner’s beautiful falsettos on ‘Take It To the Limit’ and ‘Witchy Woman’.”

  1. Diana this is awesome! I love Randy wearing his Randy’s Rodeo shirt. Another great job taking us back in time.

  2. I can’t believe that smiling picture of Felder by David Slania. I’ve never seen him smile that wide before. Very nice picture! Slania took some great pictures of Randy also. In almost every music review from the fall of 1976, it mentions “Take It To The Limit” and what a superb job Randy did on it. I’m sure the pressure was building for a flawless performance.
