The Eagles concert at the Metropolitan Sports Center in Bloomington, MN was on November 18, 1976. Their good friend JD Souther opened for them to the sold-out crowd of 16,000. This show was on the Hotel California tour, and it was just two days prior to the Purdue University concert in West Lafayette, IN.

“Since the band’s appearance here last summer, Joe Walsh, America’s preeminent electric guitarist, has replaced Bernie Leadon.”

Minneapolis Star (Minneapolis, MN) – Nov. 17, 1976
“Yesterday afternoon the semi-truck transporting the Eagles’ public address system was involved in a serious accident near Des Moines, so the band had to rent a sound system that was less than ideal for a large arena. However, the Eagles adapted well enough to satisfy the sell-out crowd of 16,000 people.
The Eagles have achieved the kind of mass acceptance that their country-rock forerunners such as the Buffalo Springfield, Byrds and Flying Burrito Brothers never enjoyed.”

“The audience often showed its appreciation by applauding in the middle of a tune.”

Star Tribune (Minneapolis, MN) – Nov. 20, 1976
“This fall, when the Eagles were clearly the No. 1 U.S. band, the ticket prices rose more than 40%, to $7.50 and $8.50. The concert again sold out.”

Great review from the Minneapolis Star staff writer. “The shaggy-haired, blue jean-clad musicians project an image of rock and roll outlaws.” The Eagles accomplished what they set out to do.
That writer did describe them accurately. Haha
