Ojai Day is an annual downtown street fair in Ojai, California. Randy Meisner appeared on stage along with Roger Varian, Vern Monnett, Ron Grinel, Drake Macy, Colin Cameron, and Jim Monahan in 1993. From looking at their Facebook page, Ojai Day looks like a lot of fun.
The video below is Randy singing “Take It To the Limit” on the stage in Ojai.
Like so many of Randy’s peers, Roger Varian had kind words to say about Randy. He told me that “most people did not realize who Randy was. I’ve had the privilege of having a number of major rock stars as friends, many of whom l recorded and performed with over the years. Randy was by far the most humble of them all. He was one of the kindest, sweetest human beings l ever met. After our performance in Ojai, a number of people were very complimentary. When they asked how we could sound so much like the Eagles, we would smile and reply, ‘we practiced a lot’.”
Randy also participated on Roger Varian’s solo album. An article about that is below.

“Most impressive is the roster of talent Varian was able to recruit for the record. ‘Shadows in Time’ features guest performances by David Crosby and Randy Meisner (the Eagles). Bruce Hornsby and the Range drummer John Molo and former Steve Miller/Dave Mason bassist Gerald Johnson also perform on the album.”

I can’t imagine how these musicians felt performing with the great Randy Meisner. Do you think the crowd realized who they were really watching?
I wonder if they did, too. People just walking by would have to have been really paying attention.
No. Randy was very humble and enjoyed keeping a low profile. When the gig was over, a lot of people were very complimentary. When they asked how we could sound so much liked the Eagles, we simply replied, “we practiced as lot.”

That was a great answer you gave to people about how you sounded so much like the Eagles. I like that!
