Musical Charity Benefits with Randy Meisner were plentiful down through the years. Over the course of Randy Meisner’s musical career, he was involved in numerous benefits. He either participated in or oganized them. The World Classic Rockers, of which Randy was a part of for several years, were especially involved in a lot of charity causes and benefits.

Scottsbluff High School Talent Show – 1961
Relaxing during an after-school practice session for the Talent Show are Randy Meisner, John Ankeny, and John Roberts. The money raised from this show went to the Student Council foreign exchange fund for the following year. This photo appeared in the 1961 Scottsbluff High School yearbook.

It was a benefit concert to help stop Pepperdine University’s development in Topanga Canyon. Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, and the Eagles participated in this benefit concert at the Topanga Corral Club.

Jerry Brown Benefit – May 14, 1976
The Jerry Brown Political Benefit that the Eagles played at was May 14, 1976 at the Capital Centre in Landover, MD. Guests on stage with the Eagles were Dan Fogelberg, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, and Kenny Edwards. Kenny Edwards was a founding member of the Stone Poneys.

Panhandle Humane Society – Dec. 20, 1977
Randy donated funds to the Panhandle Humane Society in Scottsbluff, NE, for the benefit of purchasing cat cages. Fans of Randy have long known that he was an animal lover.

Rick Nelson Benefit – June 30, 1986
Randy was interviewed by Channel 11 News in Los Angeles about a benefit being organized for the families of Rick Nelson’s band. It was to financially benefit the band’s families due to the fatal plane crash of New Year’s Eve 1985.


Eagles Rock & Roll Charity Tennis Benefit – Oct. 3, 1976
The Eagles Rock and Roll Tennis Festival was an all-day charitable benefit with the proceeds going to cancer research. It was held at the Los Angeles Tennis Club.

The LA Times article mentions that a benefit will be held for the owners of the Guitar Center, and since Randy is mentioned in the article it is presumed he was involved. No other articles to confirm this were found, though.

Hugh Wright was in a serious accident in 1992 which resulted in him being in a coma for quite awhile. Randy and other musicians participated in a benefit to raise money for his expenses.

Thousands of bikers take part in a morning ride for the annual fund-raiser benefiting the Exceptional Children’s Foundation. The ride ends at the beach site for live music, a tattoo contest, vendor booths and more. The music lineup includes Paul Rodgers, World Classic Rockers, and John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers. The event will begin about 11 a.m. $20.

This show was the last public appearance/performance that Randy participated in before his retirement. This Music Festival benefit was to raise funds for the Garden of Hope and Courage in Naples. The Garden is located on the grounds of Baker Hospital in Naples and is there for patients and their families.
