Fort Worth Eagles concert at Tarrant County Convention Center – July 7-8, 1977

The Fort Worth Eagles concert with Jimmy Buffett opening for the Eagles was at the Tarrant County Convention Center. This two-day concert July 7-8 in Fort Worth was the night before the infamous Houston concert of July 9 where it’s rumored that Randy and Glenn got into another fight backstage, and it was a few nights after the Knoxville concert. This was one of their last stops on the Hotel California tour.

The Eagles were at this same venue in Fort Worth just a few months earlier on November 3, 1976.

“What has sustained the Eagles since they first took flight five years ago in southern California has been a remarkable string of hit singles, each crafted in a country-rock style that appeals to a wide cross section of listeners.”

Fort Worth Star-Telegram (Ft. Worth, TX) – July 3, 1977

“The Eagles, who will be tonight and tomorrow night at the TCCC, have sold out all 28,000 tickets.”

“What made it even better was the lack of fireworks–only a few were set off before the Eagles appeared, and virtually none during their performance–a far cry from last Sunday’s Alice Cooper nightmare.”

Concert review in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram (Ft. Worth, TX) – July 8, 1977

“The Eagles and Jimmy Buffett were in town a couple of days last week, playing softball at Eagle Mountain Lake, eating Mexican food and presenting two of the finest concerts to be seen on any stage at any time.”

“I faulted last year’s Eagles concert because it took too long to get off the ground. It wasn’t until Randy Meisner sang ‘Take It To the Limit’ almost 45 minutes into the concert that the excitement began. After Meisner’s solo, Joe Walsh had a tune and the show soared the rest of the day. No such problems existed Thusday and Friday nights at the Tarrant County Convention Center.”

Concert review in the Dallas Morning News (Dallas, TX) – July 12, 1977

“The Eagles are a touring band; thus they performed with a slick, professional polish, leading almost directly from one song straight into the next. I have a hard time thinking of the band members individually because they make up such a tightly-knit group.”
